Welcome to our beautiful city of Ciney! Capital of the Condroz, the city of Ciney is ideally located, both in the centre of a rapidly expanding tourist region between Durbuy, Rochefort and Dinant, and en route to the Ardennes, served by the N4 national road and the E411 motorway. Ciney is also made up of eight picturesque villages, and is situated within a beautiful green setting, the Condroz. Ciney is a countryside city with more than 17,000 inhabitants. In addition to its rural character, Ciney also offers all the benefits of the city thanks to the many services available to its citizens. The Collégiale church is the city’s symbol. It overlooks Place Monseu, often considered the heart of Ciney life. This is where its remarkable bandstand takes centre stage. It is now considered one of the most beautiful bandstands in Wallonia. Place Monseu is where the city’s major cultural events and popular festivals still take place. Ciney is also on the map of Wallonia thanks to its significant teaching network. It has several educational institutions stemming from different educational structures. Its economic development is on the rise: the existing Condrolys business park has just expanded by some 50 hectares. Nearly 100 companies are expected to set up in the short term. This is not the first time that Ciney has celebrated cycling. In 1970, a Tour de France stage start took place in the Condroz capital. What’s more, that year’s winner of the Tour went on to become the greatest Belgian cyclist of all time: the one and only Eddy Merckx. The City of Ciney dreams of hosting a stage start or finish for the Grande Boucle in the near future!
